If you have a problem with your heating or cooling system due to age or wear and tear, a typical homeowners insurance policy is unlikely to cover the repairs – leaving you to foot the bill. But if the problem is covered by a Heating & Cooling Protection Plan, we’ll pay for up to $500 in repairs per service call, and up to $2,000 in annual repair coverage. We’ll even take care of locating and arranging for service by a qualified HVAC technician, saving you the trouble of searching for a repair professional.

We offer plans that cover heating systems, cooling systems, or both. Additionally, we offer plans that cover repairs and maintenance, or repairs only. 

Heating system coverage includes the components and parts of one gas furnace, oil or electric heater or boiler, including a heat pump, or geothermal system. Cooling system coverage includes the components and parts of one) ducted electric central air unit, water evaporative cooler, or geothermal system. All plans include the thermostat and zoning system control panel. 

Repair coverage applies to repairs of all covered parts, and maintenance coverage includes one maintenance service visit per coverage term for each covered system. Our PLUS plans include additional coverage of up to $500 towards a replacement product or system if your technician determines that the covered HVAC system is irreparable.

Heating & Cooling Protection Plans do not cover ductwork, grilles, zoning system dampers, flues, vents, drain lines, air and fuel filters, electronic air cleaners, humidifiers, condensate pumps, window air conditioners, refrigerant, filters, batteries, fuses and plumbing, geothermal ground loops, or gas and electrical piping to and from the unit.

Repair coverage under our Heating & Cooling Protection Plans starts 30 days after you enroll. This 30-day waiting period only applies to your first year of coverage; if your plan renews after your first 12-month coverage period, your coverage will continue uninterrupted. Maintenance coverage under our Heating & Cooling Protection Plans begins immediately after you enroll.

All Heating & Cooling Protection Plans have 12-month terms. We may elect to renew your plan by notifying you of the renewal terms (including any price changes) within 60 days prior to expiration of coverage. Unless we elect not to renew your plan, you will be automatically renewed for another one-year term at the then-standard rate and terms. If you do not want to automatically renew your plan, you must notify us prior to the plan expiration date.

*If your authorized repair technician determines that the covered equipment is deemed irreparable, we will give you a credit of $500 towards a replacement equipment by your authorized repair technician. Customer is responsible for costs not covered by the plan or in excess of applicable benefit limits.

**Repair claims are limited to $500 per service call and $2,000 per plan in the aggregate per plan term. Plans are provided by NRG Protects Inc. Independent contractors will be performing various services under the plan. In some instances we may make a cash payment in lieu of repairs or replacement in the amount of actual cost, which may be less than retail, to repair or replace any covered system, component, or appliance.

Once the plan commences, there is a 30-day waiting period before you may request repair services for a claim.

Unless the plan provider elects not to renew the plan, upon expiration of the first year, the plan will automatically renew at the standard rate and terms unless you opt out of the auto-renewal option in writing by mail at P.O. Box 2309, Houston, TX 77252- 2309, by email at or by calling us at 1.855.241.9094. Sales tax will be added in select states.
