If you have a problem with your home electrical system due to age or normal wear and tear, a typical homeowners insurance policy is unlikely to cover the repairs – leaving you on the hook for the entire cost. But if the problem is covered by an Electrical Protection Plan, we’ll pay for up to $500 in repairs per service call, and up to $2,000 in annual repair coverage. We’ll even take care of locating and arranging for service by a licensed electrician, saving you the trouble of searching for a repair professional.

Our Electrical Repair Plan covers hard-wired equipment including general wiring, meter boxes owned by you, fuse boxes, circuit breakers, circuit breaker panels, switches, receptacles and low-voltage wiring for equipment including doorbells, alarm systems and smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. Our Electrical Repair and Maintenance Essentials Plan covers all of the above, plus one electrical maintenance and safety inspection visit per coverage term.

Our Electric Repair and Electric Vehicle Charging Station Plan covers everything included in the Electrical Repair Essentials Plan, plus reimbursement for repair or replacement of an electric vehicle charging station. Our Surge Protection Plan covers reimbursement for the cost of repair or replacement of mobile electronics, home electronics and home appliances that are damaged by an electrical surge.

Electrical Protection Plans do not cover heating and cooling systems, meter boxes that are located outside your home or are owned by others, fixtures, doorbells, chime kits, smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, telephone wiring or surge protectors.

Surge Protection Plans do not cover power tools or electrical systems including fuse boxes, circuit breakers or heating and cooling equipment. They do not cover damage resulting from anything other than an electrical surge, items owned by third parties, items not located on the covered property, or items that cannot be replaced with similar kind and quality, such as antiques.

Repair coverage under our Electrical Protection Plans starts 30 days after you enroll. This 30-day waiting period only applies to your first year of coverage; if you decide to renew after your first 12-month coverage period, your coverage will continue uninterrupted. If you enroll in an Electrical Repair and Maintenance Essentials Plan, your maintenance coverage will begin immediately.

All Electrical Protection Plans have 12-month terms. We may elect to renew your plan by notifying you of the renewal terms (including any price changes) within 60 days prior to expiration of coverage. Unless we elect not to renew your plan, you will be automatically renewed for another one-year term at the then-standard rate and terms. If you do not want to automatically renew your plan, you must notify us prior to the plan expiration date.

*Repair claims are limited to $500 per service call and $2,000 per plan in the aggregate per plan term. Plans are provided by NRG Protects Inc. Independent contractors will be performing various services under the plans. In some instances we may make a cash payment in lieu of repairs or replacement in the amount of actual cost, which may be less than retail, to repair or replace any covered system, component, or appliance.

Once repair plans commence, there is a 30-day waiting period before you may request services for a claim. Unless the plan provider elects not to renew the plan, upon expiration of the first year, the plan will automatically renew at the standard rate and terms unless you opt out of the auto-renewal option in writing by mail at P.O. Box 2309, Houston, TX 77252- 2309, by email at cancel@nrgprotects.com or by calling us at 1.855.241.9094. Sales tax will be added in select states.

The Terms and Conditions may limit the provider's contractual obligations due to coverage caps, coverage exclusions and any cash-back option available under the plan.
